Coronavirus lockdown – Walking

We are so lucky to be where we are during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Whilst we have been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic we have been able to take the opportunity to go on some lovely walks.

We’ve been able to explore many new areas that we haven’t had the time to do before.

We have taken in some fantastic views

and seen some of the local Exmoor ponies right up on the moorland.

To cap it all it is also lambing time.

We are looking forward to being able to share this wonderful area with you as soon as we possibly can.

All of these images were taken on our permitted daily exercise walks – the car has not been anywhere for weeks!

British Cycling

We’re delighted to have had British Cycling’s medal-winning Olympic hopeful Ellie Dickinson, along with GB Para-cycling coach Andrew Pink staying with us.

Here they are, alongside Teresa, before setting out on an inevitably lumpy training ride.

We wish them every success for the future.

Lynton & Lynmouth BIG WEEKEND

There’s lots going on in Lynton & Lynmouth the weekend of 11 – 12 May with the Cliff Railway Victorian Family Festival on the 11th and Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Spring Steam Weekend.

We still have some accommodation available if you are looking for somewhere to stay that is convenient for both locations.

Easter Egg Hunt

Any young children staying at Dean Steep are welcome to join us in our Family Easter Egg hunt.

Dean Steep is situated less than 5 minutes drive from the Start/Finish line. We will be opening up 2 night bookings for this weekend if you are looking for somewhere to stay.

Last year we were pleased to accommodate the organizers along with several competitors, including some from as far afield as Belgium and the USA.

Exmoor | Dark Skies Festival

dark skies

The Exmoor Dark Skies Festival runs from Sat 20th October to Sunday 4th Nov.

You can see the programme of events by following this link.

You don’t need to wait until the festival starts, you can enjoy some beautiful starlit nights right on our own doorstep. Just walk up our field and you can enjoy a 360º view of the night sky.

Winter Ridge Trailer

Filmed on location in Lynton and Lynmouth we are happy to have played a minor role (providing accommodation for most of the crew) in this award winning production. There are several glimpses of the fantastic scenery which this area has to offer. (Apologies for the expletive at 36 seconds!)

It is hoped that the film will be on general release in the UK before too long.

Lynmouth Raft Race

The Raft Race returns to Lynmouth on 11th Aug 2018, starting at 4:30pm for a couple of hours. Come and join in the fun. Watch the rafts parade through Lynmouth before they are launched into the harbour for the start under the bridge and the race out to a buoy. You can help them on their way by buying flour bombs and pelting them from the bridge and harbour wall. It’s a good laugh and a great way to raise money for charity.

Spring Gala – May 12 & 13

The railway is holding its annual Spring Gala on the above dates. Most of the engines will be in operation with unlimited rides. There will be a marquee with various additional attractions along with a model railway, craft stalls, BBQ  as well as a beer tent with real ales.

We are only just over a mile down the road and you could even walk the scenic route across our field then down the back lanes and a footpath (slightly further) if you wanted to leave the car and make a day of it.

We still have our 2 night breaks available if you are looking for somewhere to stay.

Winter Ridge – Film premiere

film logoWinter Ridge is opening the London Independent Film Festival 2018. The première is being shown in London on April 13th at 9pm.

It is hard to believe that it is only 12 months since we were having discussions about providing accommodation for the majority of the crew.

We are looking forward to seeing the film at Lynton’s own private screening. Let’s hope the press like it and that it is picked up by a major distributor.

We still have places available for Easter, if you want to come and see where the film was made.
