The railway is holding its annual Spring Gala on the above dates. Most of the engines will be in operation with unlimited rides. There will be a marquee with various additional attractions along with a model railway, craft stalls, BBQ as well as a beer tent with real ales.
We are only just over a mile down the road and you could even walk the scenic route across our field then down the back lanes and a footpath (slightly further) if you wanted to leave the car and make a day of it.
We still have our 2 night breaks available if you are looking for somewhere to stay.
We are really pleased to announce that we now have a fast Wi-Fi connection available in all of our cottages. No more having to traipse to the Guest Room to experience the painfully slow connection we had before. Thanks again to Connecting Devon and Somerset and Airband Community Internet.
Yippee! We’ve finally got faster broadband, thanks to Airband Community Internet Ltd and Connecting Devon and Somerset. It all works by a ‘Line of Sight’ radio link to a nearby transmitter. Yesterday we had a meagre 1.7Mbps, today we are up to 30Mbps – a considerable improvement.
Next step is to install a ‘Campus Network’ so that we can provide WiFi in every cottage without guests having to go into the Guest Room. We’re hoping to get this up and running within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Watch this space!
A new sculpture by Richard Graham arrived in Lynmouth this week.
It was unveiled by BBC Countyfile’s presenter, John Craven. ‘The Walker’ stands at the end of the Coleridge Way walk at the very point where the South West Coast Path and The Two Moors Way intersect on The Esplanade in Lynmouth.
If you want to have a closer look, you’ll find him opposite The Pavilion at the bottom end of the Lynton/Lynmouth Cliff Railway.
The Red Bull Steeplechase returns to Exmoor on 18 June 2017. Starting and finishing in Lynmouth, this is a knockout race over 23 miles. There are four ‘steeples’ to reach and at each of the first 3, the slowest competitors are eliminated, leaving only 20 males and 20 females to complete the final section.
Sunday 4th June 2017. The British Cycling registered sportive, organised by Bike Shed in Barnstaple, takes in some of the most fabulous scenery North Devon has to offer. There are four distances to choose from – 80, 50, 40 and 20 miles. The 80 miler features an awesome 2707m (8881 ft) of climbing. There are feed and rest stations along the routes. This promises to be a great family fun day out, as well as raising money for North Devon charities. http://www.thesmugglersportive.co.uk/
Check our accommodation page for details of our cottages if you are looking for somewhere to stay. We have a limited amount of cycle storage available too.
